No. The NYSE and Nasdaq close on Good Friday even though it is not a federal holiday: Friday, April 3, 2026, Friday, March 26, 2027, and Friday, April 14, 2028. The bond market closes too in 2027; in 2026 SIFMA recommends a noon ET early close for bonds instead of a full close.

Is the stock market open on Thanksgiving and Black Friday?

The stock market is closed on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26, 2026 and Thursday, November 25, 2027). On the Friday after Thanksgiving it opens at 9:30 a.m. ET and closes early at 1:00 p.m. ET. The bond market closes early at 2:00 p.m. ET that Friday.

Is the stock market open on Christmas Eve?

In 2026, yes: Thursday, December 24, 2026 is a 1:00 p.m. ET early close, and the market is closed on Friday, December 25. In 2027 Christmas falls on a Saturday, so the stock market is closed on Friday, December 24, 2027 instead.

Is the stock market open on New Year's Eve?

Yes. December 31 is a normal full trading day for stocks in 2026 and 2027. The bond market closes early at 2:00 p.m. ET. In 2028 New Year's Day falls on a Saturday, and the NYSE does not observe a New Year's holiday that year.

Is the stock market open on Veterans Day and Columbus Day?

Yes. Stocks trade normally on Columbus Day (Indigenous Peoples’ Day) and Veterans Day. The bond market and Federal Reserve Banks are closed on both days, and many banks close, so bank transfers and Treasury settlements wait until the next business day.

Is the stock market open on Presidents Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

No. Both are full market holidays: Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, January 19, 2026 and Monday, January 18, 2027; Presidents Day (Washington’s Birthday) is Monday, February 16, 2026 and Monday, February 15, 2027.

Is the stock market open on July 3?

Not in 2026. Independence Day falls on a Saturday in 2026, so the NYSE observes it on Friday, July 3, 2026. In 2027 July 4 is a Sunday and the market is closed on Monday, July 5. In 2028 the market closes at 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, July 3 and is closed on Tuesday, July 4.

What are the stock market hours?

The regular trading session for NYSE and Nasdaq stocks runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except market holidays. On early-close days the session ends at 1:00 p.m. ET. Pre-market and after-hours trading times depend on the exchange and your broker.
