Why this calendar belongs with Fed tools

The FOMC reacts to an evolving body of evidence rather than one number. Jobs data inform the employment side of the mandate; CPI and PCE show inflation; GDP and retail sales show demand and output.

Putting those dates beside the FOMC schedule makes it easier to see which reports arrive before each rate decision—without turning the calendar into an unsupported forecast.

Source and timing rules

Times are shown in Eastern Time because that is how the agencies publish their schedules. “Period covered” distinguishes the reference month or quarter from the publication date.

Schedules can change. This calendar was checked on August 23, 2026, and every row links back to the responsible government agency.

U.S. Economic Calendar FAQs

What are the most important U.S. economic releases for interest rates?

Nonfarm payrolls, CPI, PCE inflation, GDP, retail sales, JOLTS, and the FOMC rate decision are among the most closely watched releases. No single report determines Fed policy by itself.

What time are U.S. economic reports released?

Many major BLS, BEA, and Census reports are scheduled for 8:30 AM Eastern Time. JOLTS is generally scheduled for 10:00 AM ET, and FOMC rate decisions are released at 2:00 PM ET.

Are the dates on this calendar official?

Yes. The dates are transcribed from official 2026 calendars published by BLS, BEA, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the Federal Reserve. Agencies can revise schedules, so official source links are included.

Does this calendar include market forecasts?

No. This tool focuses on verified release timing, period covered, and primary sources. It does not invent consensus forecasts, surprise estimates, or trading signals.
