What to Check at the Next FOMC Meeting

Heading into the July 28–29, 2026 meeting, the confirmed starting point is the current target range of 3.5% – 3.75%. At the June 2026 meeting, the FOMC held that range and said inflation remained elevated relative to its 2% goal. The Committee also said future action depends on incoming information. That official record does not guarantee a hold, hike, or cut at the next meeting.

What is known before the announcement

The meeting dates and 2:00 PM ET decision time are published by the Federal Reserve. A Summary of Economic Projections and dot plot are released only at the March, June, September, and December meetings. Between meetings, traders also watch fed funds futures through the fed funds futures, summarized by the CME FedWatch Tool. Those probabilities are market prices, not Federal Reserve guidance, and can change throughout the day. For that reason, this static page links to the live tool instead of republishing a number that may already be stale.

What to read when the decision is released

At 2:00 PM ET, check the new target range and compare the wording of the policy statement with the previous release. If this is an SEP meeting, review the new median projections and dot plot separately from the rate decision. The Chair's press conference begins at 2:30 PM ET. The official documents are published on the Federal Reserve monetary policy page.

FedRateCalc does not forecast the decision. For the official outcome, see the latest Fed rate decision or the live countdown to the next meeting.
