2027 VA Disability Rates (Estimate): 3.6% COLA Pay Chart
This is an estimate, not VA's published table. The 2027 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment is 3.6%, and VA compensation is normally raised by the same percentage on December 1. This page applies 3.6% to VA's 2026 rates. If the increase takes effect December 1, 2026, the first payment at the new rate, for December benefits, is scheduled for Thursday, December 31, 2026.

Where the 2027 increase stands
The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2026 was introduced as H.R. 8552 (House, April 28, 2026) and S. 4487 (Senate, May 11, 2026). Both would raise each compensation amount under 38 U.S.C. 1114 and 1115(1) effective December 1, 2026, by the same percentage as the Social Security benefit increase effective that day (3.6%), and direct VA to publish the new rates in the Federal Register.
Neither bill had passed as of our review date. Congress usually passes this bill each fall; until it does and VA publishes its table, these are estimates. We will replace this page's figures with VA's official 2027 table when it is posted, usually in December.

How the estimate is made
Veteran-alone rates and the 10% and 20% rates are the 2026 amounts times 1.036, rounded to the nearest cent. Dependent amounts at 100% are treated the same way. At 30% to 90%, each dependent amount is the 100% amount times the rating, rounded down to the whole dollar, as 38 U.S.C. 1115(2) sets out.
This method gives VA's published 2024, 2025 and 2026 tables exactly when applied to the previous year, but VA's own table is the authority. Try your numbers in the VA disability calculator with the 2027 estimate switched on.
2027 VA disability rates questions
What will VA disability pay be in 2027?
VA has not published 2027 rates. Using the 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment, we estimate that the 100% rate for a veteran alone would be about $4,080.37 a month, up from $3,938.58 in 2026, and $4,307.87 with a spouse. These are estimates.
When would the 2027 rates start?
VA rates normally change on December 1. If Congress passes the cost-of-living act, the new rates take effect December 1, 2026, and the first payment at the new rate, for December benefits, is scheduled for Thursday, December 31, 2026.
Has Congress passed the 2026 COLA bill for veterans?
As of our review date, no. The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2026 was introduced as H.R. 8552 in the House and S. 4487 in the Senate. It would raise the compensation rates by the same percentage as the Social Security increase. Congress usually passes this bill each fall; until it does and VA publishes its table, these figures are estimates.
How is this estimate calculated?
The veteran-alone rates, the 10% and 20% rates and the dependent amounts at 100% are multiplied by 1.036 and rounded to the nearest cent. For ratings of 30% to 90%, each dependent amount is that 100% amount times the rating, rounded down to whole dollars, and added to the veteran-alone rate. The same method reproduces VA's published 2024, 2025 and 2026 tables from the prior year's table.
