Policy statement: the rate decision and a concise policy explanation, released at 2:00 PM ET on the meeting's second day.

Meeting minutes: a fuller account of the discussion, normally released three weeks later. Minutes do not announce a new rate decision.

Summary of Economic Projections: forecasts and the dot plot released with the statement at the March, June, September, and December meetings.

Transcript: a much more detailed record released with a five-year lag, not three weeks after the meeting.

As reviewed on August 23, 2026, minutes from the September 15–16 FOMC meeting are scheduled for October 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM Eastern Time.

What is the difference between the FOMC statement and minutes?

The statement announces the policy decision at the end of the meeting. The minutes arrive about three weeks later and provide a fuller account of participants’ discussion. They are not a new rate decision.

Are FOMC minutes the same as the dot plot?

No. The dot plot is part of the Summary of Economic Projections released at selected meetings in March, June, September, and December. Minutes are a separate record released later.
