When a holiday falls on a weekend, USPS says:

The USPS holiday list keeps the holiday on the Saturday: Independence Day 2026 is listed on Saturday, July 4. USPS says: “Post Offices will be open on Friday, July 3, and deliveries will occur as normal.” USPS also says: “If a holiday falls on a Saturday, for some USPS employees, the preceding Friday will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes.” Federal agencies that follow the OPM list observe Friday, July 3, 2026, so the two lists differ here.
