SSI Payment Schedule 2026 and 2027
SSI is paid on the 1st of the month, or on the last business day before it when the 1st is a weekend or federal holiday. That is why some months show two SSI deposits and others none: July, October, December in 2026 and April, July, December in 2027 have two. The second deposit is not an extra payment.

Double-payment months
The rule for SSI, 20 CFR 416.502:
“In all other months, a payment will be made on the first day of each month and represents payment for that month.”
“If the first day of the month falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, payments will be made on the first day preceding such day which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.”
SSA's own explanation of what that means for you:
“But when the first day of the month falls on the weekend or a Federal holiday, you receive your SSI payment on the last business day before the first day of the month.”
“It does not mean that you are receiving a duplicate payment in the previous month, so you do not need to contact us to report the second payment.”
Section 708(b) of the Social Security Act bars recovery of the excess when receiving a check early under subsection (a) results in more than the correct amount being paid:
“If more than the correct amount of payment under title II, title VIII or XVI is made to any individual as a result of the receipt of a benefit check pursuant to subsection (a) before the end of the month for which such check is issued, no action shall be taken (under section 204 or 1631(b) or otherwise) to recover such payment or the incorrect portion thereof.”

SSDI and Social Security paid with SSI
SSDI is a Social Security (Title II) benefit, so it follows the Social Security birthday schedule rather than the SSI schedule. The birthday is the insured worker's. See the Social Security payment schedule 2026 and the Social Security payment schedule 2027.
“If you received Social Security before May 1997 or if receiving both Social Security & SSI, Social Security is paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st.”
SSI payment date questions
When is SSI paid?
SSI is paid on the 1st of the month. When the 1st is a Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday, SSA pays on the last business day before it. In 2026 that moves SSI to Friday, January 30, 2026, Friday, February 27, 2026, Friday, July 31, 2026 and Friday, October 30, 2026, plus Thursday, December 31, 2026 for the January 2027 payment.
Which months have two SSI payments?
July, October, December in 2026 and April, July, December in 2027. In each, the 1st of the next month is a weekend or holiday, so SSA pays the next month's SSI at the end of the current month.
Is a second SSI payment in one month extra money?
No. It is the next month's regular payment, paid early. The month after a double-payment month has no SSI deposit dated in it, because that payment already arrived. SSA says you do not need to contact it to report the second payment.
When is SSDI paid?
SSDI is paid on the Social Security birthday schedule: the second, third or fourth Wednesday by the insured worker's birth date, or the 3rd when an application on the record was filed before May 1997 or in the other 3rd-of-month cases. Someone who gets both SSDI and SSI is paid SSDI on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st.
Do I get SSI and Social Security on different days?
Yes. Social Security paid together with SSI is paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st, according to SSA's printed schedule.
