NYSE core hours and early closes
NYSE lists these hours and early closes on its Holidays & Trading Hours page:
“Core Trading Session: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET”
“Each market will close early at 1:00 p.m. (1:15 p.m. for eligible options) on Friday, November 28, 2025, Friday, November 27, 2026, and Friday, November 26, 2027 (the day after Thanksgiving).”
“Each market will close early at 1:00 p.m. (1:15 p.m. for eligible options) on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and Thursday, December 24, 2026.”
Early closes (for example 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 24, 2026) are not counted as market holidays here; the NYSE early-close lines are in the core hours section.
The checker reads the calendar, not the clock, so an "Open" answer means NYSE lists no holiday or early close for the date. It does not say whether trading is under way at that moment.
When the bond market differs from the stock market
The bond market follows SIFMA's recommendations, which are a different list from the NYSE calendar. On Columbus Day and Veterans Day, SIFMA recommends a full close for the securities its schedule covers while NYSE lists no stock market closure. On Good Friday 2026 the lists differ the other way: NYSE lists a holiday and SIFMA recommends a 12:00 p.m. ET early close for those securities. Previously scheduled SIFMA early close recommendations do not affect the closing time for settlements. When a date differs, the checker adds a SIFMA note to the answer. Stock market dates for 2028 per the NYSE Group 2025-12-23 calendar release, not re-read on November 4, 2026. See is the bond market open today for every difference in 2026 and 2027.

Frequently asked questions
Is the stock market open tomorrow?
The NYSE Holidays & Trading Hours page lists the days NYSE markets observe as holidays and the days they close early. The FedRateCalc checker takes today's date in New York, adds one day and compares it with that list. NYSE lists its core session as “Core Trading Session: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET”.
Is the stock market open tomorrow if tomorrow is a Saturday or Sunday?
No. The FedRateCalc checker treats Saturdays and Sundays as closed; The NYSE Holidays & Trading Hours page does not state this, and lists only holiday and early-close dates. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, NYSE lists the Friday before in three cases in 2026 and 2027: Friday, July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed), Friday, June 18, 2027 (Juneteenth observed) and Friday, December 24, 2027 (Christmas Day observed). When Independence Day falls on a Sunday, NYSE lists the Monday after: Monday, July 5, 2027. NYSE Group's 2025-12-23 calendar release (not re-read on November 4, 2026) lists no Friday closure for New Year's Day 2028 (January 1, 2028 is a Saturday).
Is the stock market open tomorrow if tomorrow is Good Friday?
No. The NYSE Holidays & Trading Hours page lists Good Friday as a market holiday: Friday, April 3, 2026, and Friday, March 26, 2027. Good Friday is not on OPM's federal holiday list. For securities covered by SIFMA's schedule, SIFMA recommends an early close at 12:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 3, 2026 and a full close on Friday, March 26, 2027. Previously scheduled SIFMA early close recommendations do not affect the closing time for settlements.
Is the stock market open tomorrow if tomorrow is Veterans Day or Columbus Day?
NYSE lists no holiday for Columbus Day or Veterans Day, so the NYSE calendar shows regular hours on those days. SIFMA recommends a full close for the securities SIFMA's schedule covers on Monday, October 12, 2026, Wednesday, November 11, 2026, Monday, October 11, 2027 and Thursday, November 11, 2027, according to SIFMA's Holiday Schedule page.
What time does the stock market close early, and when is tomorrow an early close?
NYSE says: “Each market will close early at 1:00 p.m. (1:15 p.m. for eligible options) on Friday, November 28, 2025, Friday, November 27, 2026, and Friday, November 26, 2027 (the day after Thanksgiving).” It also says: “Each market will close early at 1:00 p.m. (1:15 p.m. for eligible options) on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and Thursday, December 24, 2026.” NYSE's footnote lists December 24 early closes for 2025 and 2026 only; for 2027 the NYSE table lists Friday, December 24, 2027 as the Christmas Day observed holiday.
What are the regular stock market hours?
NYSE lists “Core Trading Session: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET” for its core trading session. Which time zone does the stock market tomorrow checker use?
NYSE lists its hours in Eastern Time. The checker takes today's date in New York (America/New_York), adds one day and compares it with the NYSE lists, so a reader in another time zone may see a different calendar date on a clock than the date used. The NYSE Holidays & Trading Hours page is the source of the holiday and early-close dates.
