Letters by weight

Stamped letters are the price for a letter with stamps on it; metered letters have postage printed by a postage meter.

Weight not overStampedForever stampsMetered

2 ounces$1.112$1.07
3 ounces$1.402$1.36

The Forever stamp count is arithmetic: the stamped price divided by the 1-ounce stamped price, rounded up. Postage is charged by the ounce or fraction of an ounce:

“First-Class Mail - Per ounce or fraction thereof; any fraction of an ounce is considered a whole ounce. For example, if a piece weighs 0.5 ounces, the weight (postage) increment is 1 ounce.”
