Does Dollar Tree Take EBT or Accept SNAP?
Dollar Tree’s own store directory marks individual stores with “Accepts EBT”, so acceptance is shown store by store. When we checked on November 1, 2026, three city directory pages (Sioux Falls, SD: 10 of 10 stores marked; Los Angeles, CA: 11 of 11; Houston, TX: 66 of 66) marked every store listed “Accepts EBT”. Those are three samples, not every Dollar Tree, and we did not find a Dollar Tree help page with a chain-wide statement.

What the Dollar Tree store directory shows
Dollar Tree’s directory pages for three cities (read November 1, 2026) show these headings:
“10 stores in Sioux Falls”
“11 stores in Los Angeles”
“66 stores in Houston”
and this label on each store entry:
“Accepts EBT”
The check covered those three city pages. Other cities were not read, so the directory entry for your own store is the answer that counts.
SNAP online and delivery: what USDA says
USDA FNS says SNAP online purchasing is available in the states it lists, and that fees are not covered:
“SNAP online is currently available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.”
“Only eligible food may be purchased with SNAP benefits; delivery fees and other associated charges may not be paid for with SNAP benefits.”
USDA publishes a list of retailers accepting SNAP online for each state. The California list we read (Internet Archive capture of March 17, 2026) did not include Dollar Tree. Other states have their own lists, so check yours on USDA’s page.
What SNAP can and cannot buy
At any store, EBT pays only for what USDA allows. This is USDA FNS’s own list.
- Any food for the household, such as:
- Fruits and vegetables;
- Meat, poultry, and fish;
- Dairy products;
- Breads and cereals;
- Other foods such as snack foods and non-alcoholic beverages; and
- Seeds and plants, which produce food for the household to eat.
- Households CANNOT use SNAP benefits to buy:
- Beer, wine, and liquor.
- Cigarettes and tobacco.
- Food and drinks containing controlled substances such as cannabis/marijuana and CBD.
- Vitamins, medicines, and supplements. If an item has a Supplement Facts label, it is considered a supplement and is not eligible for SNAP purchase.
- Live animals (except shellfish, fish removed from water, and animals slaughtered prior to pick-up from the store).
- Foods that are hot at the point of sale.
- Any nonfood items such as:
- Pet foods
- Cleaning supplies, paper products, and other household supplies.
- Hygiene items and cosmetics
Check a specific store
A chain’s statement does not replace a check of the store you plan to use. USDA FNS says:
“The SNAP Retailer Locator allows anyone to locate nearby SNAP-authorized retailers by entering a street address, city and state or zip code.”
Open the USDA SNAP Retailer Locator and enter your address or zip code.
Frequently asked questions
Do all Dollar Tree stores take EBT?
We did not find a chain-wide Dollar Tree statement. Dollar Tree’s store directory marks individual stores “Accepts EBT”, and the USDA SNAP Retailer Locator lists SNAP-authorized retailers near an address.
How do I know if my Dollar Tree takes EBT?
Open your store’s entry in Dollar Tree’s store directory and look for the “Accepts EBT” label, then confirm with the USDA SNAP Retailer Locator or the store itself.
Can I use EBT at Dollar Tree online or for delivery?
When we checked on November 1, 2026, we did not find a Dollar Tree statement about EBT for online or delivery orders. Dollar Tree has a same-day storefront at sameday.dollartree.com that serves Instacart’s Help Center; that is Instacart’s text, not a Dollar Tree statement. USDA’s California example list of retailers accepting SNAP online did not include Dollar Tree.
What can I buy with EBT at Dollar Tree?
Only items on USDA’s list of what SNAP can buy: food for the household and seeds and plants that produce food. USDA’s list of what SNAP cannot buy is quoted on this page.
