How this calculator works
For each day marked worked, the calculator subtracts unpaid break minutes from elapsed time using exact minutes. A day marked off contributes no hours.
Choose overnight only when a shift ends on the following day. The tool rejects same clock times and breaks longer than the shift because those entries are ambiguous or invalid.
Weekly hours up to the entered threshold are paid at the hourly rate. Hours above it use the chosen multiplier for a gross-pay estimate.
The defaults total 45.00 hours: 40 regular hours plus 5 hours above a 40-hour threshold at $20 and 1.5 times, or $950 gross.
This arithmetic does not decide FLSA coverage, exemption status, workweek start, state requirements, or any payroll treatment.
Worked example
With the defaults, Monday through Friday are 8 paid hours each and Saturday is 5, for 45 weekly hours and $950 estimated gross pay.
Common questions
Can I leave a day off?
Yes. Set that day’s worked field to No. Its time values remain valid form values but are not counted.
Does 40 hours always mean overtime?
No. This default is a common federal benchmark, but the applicable workweek, exemption, contract, state, and local rules require separate review.
